Overpriced, crap service, unfriendly staff, rubbish breakfast, basically a rip off.

The room (and therefore the bed) was small and the decor was dated. The services (en suite/television/coffee-making) were all operable but the hotel functioned more as a motel with no common use facilities.

1. I returned at 11.20pm and the place was all locked up.it took me 30 mins to rouse someone and get my room key. 2. there was no hot water for a shower or wash. 3. and to top that there was no bacon!!!!

The price compared to other hotels in the area was reasonable. Breakfast was good. Overall a good basic hotel if you are not expecting luxury.
Wireless internet is provided but seems to be hit and miss in the rooms. The room I was in looked a bit "tired". A dog-eared and stained mat could easily be replaced. No bar or evening meal.

Location suited me. In the high street, 5 pubs all serving food plus usual take away restaurants ( Chinese, Indian, Kebab, Pizza etc.) all within 5 minutes walk. Hotel only a mile from J12 of the M4. Several maintenance issues with room ie. No spray from shower, toilet seat only attached by one hinge and radiators not working, however all fixed promptly once reported. Good free internet. If all you need is somewhere to sleep with bathroom facilities and breakfast for only £40 a night ( cheaper to book with hotel direct ) this is fine.
Room and bathroom small though adequate. No armchair or wardrobe. Traffic noise from highstreet and hotel car park if you sleep with window open. Plenty of power points though kettle lead has to be unplugged before you can pour the kettle. Sink very small, hard to fill kettle without making a mess. No shelves or storage space in bathroom to put things on but all these comments are minor and easily lived with.

The old part of the hotel is delightful, and the rooms are comfortable and clean. The village is lovely, with a good range of eating places all within a short distance of the hotel. The city and countryside (amazing villages nearby!!) are all close.

Appreciated Reading, the hotel was well-maintained and recently refurbished in the centre of the village. It had convenient and perfect location, near the pubs suggested on the booking site, shops and pubs and transport. Plus, our venue was located 3 km from tourist attractions like a local nature reserve.

The staff did their best to accommodate us.
For dads, it would be great if they had larger family rooms.
